Something out of the ordinary

I live in Jersey and I own a motormome (S700 Hymer) and like a lot of other like minded people I keep my motorhome in France. For an Island of 45 square miles there are 644 motorhomes and caravans registered here. France is just over one hour away by boat.

Return trip for motorhome £230.00 -£700.00 A lot of money ?? So most people leave there camping car in France under cover in a big shed, all locked up !! Last month the customs (Douane) decided to put on notice on every motorhome and car parked in the shed staiting "you must contact Saint Malo customs before use of your vehicle"

If your wagon has been in France for longer than six months you get fined (depending on how long it has been in France , how much you get fined Ranges between 300 and 1500 euros plus any wagon that has not paid T.V.A (V.A.T) must pay up before they can move it If VAT has been paid in another E.U Country they will accept it ,but you have to prove it If you can prove it, you then have to re-register it in the country the VAT was paid . You will not be allowed to keep it in France or any other EC country for more than six months in any one year if it has Jersey plates (ie J 12345 ) Funny ! ! over the last week a lot of motorhomes/caravans have been returning to Jersey

Best Regards Ousty
