Description:

Up for sale is our beloved 1997 Toyota Toyoace Champ 4 berth motorhome/campervan.

Also known as the Tardis...a real head turner that has people queuing up to look inside! You won't find another like her, with the specification she has, and the condition she is in. A self contained beauty!

She was imported from Japan by her previous owners, who intended to take her back to New Zealand where you will find lots of these and similar campervans. Due to a change in NZ regulations this was no longer possible and she was sold. She has many items fitted you will find on a bigger van/American RV. We converted her to UK standard for electrics etc. She came to live with us in Jul 08 and in the 3 yrs with have owned her, have had a great time travelling around the UK.

This is a great van, reliable, passes MOT without problem (last one Jul 11) and is a pleasure to drive. It is no wider/longer than a large family estate so it can cope with the narrow lanes that sat nav tends to send you down!

WHY ARE WE SELLING??
We have now found and settled in our permanent home, and increased our dog family. She just does not get enough use to warrant keeping her. She is a van to have fun in, and we want her to go to someone who will nurture her, and take her on lots of new adventures!

The PRO's:

Unique!

Reliable Toyota 2.8 litre diesel engine with overdrive and turbo- regularly serviced
automatic gears- gear lever folds down when not travelling
aircon to cab area
electric front windows
central locking (cab doors only) using fob
Ignition immobiliser- requires deactivation using fob
easy access to rear from cab- privacy curtain attaches using press studs to obscure when parked up
Sun roof with curtain/blind
thermal cab window covers- fit inside the van using suction pads
colour/night time rear view/reversing camera- fully functional (c-mos fitted 09)
kenwood multi cd player/radio
on board fresh water tank 60l with pressure pump and level indicator panel
under slung grey water tank 65l- pull handle release at rear
gas blown air heating- Auto ignite thermostat control inside van
built in gas water heater- Suburban (USA) external ignition
2 electric sockets 240v kitchen worktop area
numerous 12v sockets
leisure battery, level indicator panel and trickle charger
3 way fridge with small freezer section- 12v, 240v and gas. Good working order
2 ring gas hob-push button ignition. Overhead light/extractor hood. Slide window to rear, with fly screen and privacy blind
Small kitchen sink with hot/cold taps
Gas tank storage compartment- we had this extended to take the lighter and slightly larger propane red tanks
On board shower/toilet cubicle with door.
Drop down basin/shower/shower curtain extractor fan and light plus larger size thetford cassette toilet with electric button flush and water tank.
Hehr glass sliding windows, half tinted (we took some off as it made the van really dark inside half clear.
Net curtains/ curtains to all windows/vents except one in main area, and shower area.
Fly screens on all windows in good order no holes.
Fly screen door inside main access door.
Original curtains and carpet fittings-all serviceable
King size over cab area We replaced the heavy awkward original platform with new lighter sturdier versions. (We still have the upholstered originals and will go with van). The new platform breaks down into 3 parts for storage when travelling or it can be left up. Sliding tinted glass windows on each side, with fly screens/curtains. Overhead light. Privacy curtain screen encloses open end.
2 2 Rock n roll seats. These are great, they have different configurations, e.g. forward facing, inward facing and can be used as small bed. If you pull them out and use the padded panel it goes into a double bed.
Foldaway table- stored in cupboard when travelling. Seating 2 2 1. Main entrance has a ledge for the shelf/cushion arrangement.
Lots of overhead locker storage, with lift up doors that can be locked open or shut down tight for travel. All dry and clean.
External ladder to access roof area at rear of van- space for a roof box
Outside hot/cold shower attachment- great for sandy feet or dirty dogs!
Omnistor side awning, full working order with winder-can be used to attach additional awning e.g. khyam motordome
3 bike rack- folds up when not in use. Could also be used to carry up to 50kg of kit!
All external lockers can be secured with keys.
You can fit several large dogs inside and their owners!

The CONS:
-Leave her for 7 months, don't charge or drive her, & she won't start ! (New starter battery Feb 12)
If you are taller than 5' 10" you may find her uncomfortable to drive and move around inside due to her compact size.
-The vent in the shower area needs replaced. We sourced an authentic replacement- it just needs fitting.
-She is not built for speed, but will cruise happily at around 55-60mph. Depending on wind, load etc, we normally get about 30mpg.
-Much of the original information is in Japanese, but we have instructions on most things, and have worked out how to use the rest through trial/error and some great motor homing pals.
-You cannot fit more than 3 dobermann's inside it and have the owners get a good nights kip!

MILEAGE -Speedo reads 115643 KILOMETRES...which works out at approx 72000 miles. Speedo only displays KM/H.

DIMENSIONS- Length 5m, Height 2.7m, Width 1.9m

WOULD WE PX??
We will only consider a diesel estate with tow bar- subject to age and condition etc.
