Water in engine Iveco Daily....help what to do?[B]
I have taken the tank off and cleaned it out. I have replace the water / fuel filter separator 2 times. I have replaced the partical fuel filter next to the fuel pump.
I assume it is still water somewhere in the system. The engine will keep cutting off if I let it rev for too long. The injector light comes on then the engine dies. I have to then turn to key off, and wait for a few seconds then I can start it up again.
How do I fix this problem. I assume it is water in the system not dirt.
Hmmm, I don't think it is the head gasket. It did this ages ago too, but it wasn't as bad.
The fuel sender unit that sits on the top of the tank came loose. It is a know problem according to the spare parts people, so they say. And with the water and rain it has splashed up into the tank.
It drives fine except for when you rev it, or it need more fuel. Does 100km down the hwy no problems. Just have to accelerate slower than normal, ie 1/2 to maybe 3/4 pedal.
Have not checked oil colour or for bubbles in radiator, as not expecting that, but will now check seeing that you mentioned it.
I live in Queensland, in a town called Withcott. Our immediate area got smashed by the floods..
I do not know the engine set up you have but I had a problem on an engine that would do the same thing.
It turn out there was a small fuel filter in the system and it would collapse when more fuel was needed.
Then would swell back up when the engine stopped. Could this be happening to you.
Also check the fuel lines some flexible lines have a liner that if damaged can allow fuel between it and the outer rubber and cause the same thing, ie shuts fuel off then will allow the engine to restart.
Our friends were in the floods but only got a few inches in there yard. Good luck

I bleed the air out. Run the motor and opened up the bolt and the fuel comes out. Had it open for say 30 seconds as the fuel was coming out. No air come out there.
I am quite sure you've looked at all other options but the most likely cause will be the inline pump next to the filter you described in the chassis (nearside).
We've changed three in the last 4 months with the symptoms you describe. They are not very long lasting we've even changed them in warranty.
