He said he had bought a new Autotrail Mohawk and then had read about judder (gave a link to a Fiat forum on the topic) and asked what people here thought. I was going to tell him not worry but to check it out before taking delivery.

That's almost certainly the answer Alan, it does happen quite regularly, very frustrating when you've composed a reply then get the "post does not exist" message.
Unfortunately we're left with no record of the post.
