Having previously owned a caravan, I have never really worried about stopping clanking pans and rattling crockery- because I couldn't hear it!
Now I have a venerable old Hymer B654 (with it's own odd noises!) I would love some tips about packing away everything so it arrives on site in one piece and not sliding around in the cupboards. Have tried sheets of bubble wrap to some effect. what do experienced motorhomers do ? turn up the radio and sing...!?
regards,
Siatbury
There is a quite simple solution to this problem.
Most camping supplies and some other shops sell a perforated 'sticky' non-slip rubber mat, that can be cut easily with scissors. Pop pieces between major rattles and they will go away forever. There are other reasons for using this material, one of which is to protect non-stick surfaces from being rubbed bald from vibrating/rattling objects. So not only does it stop the rattles, it protects your stuff.

Or you can get it in kind of yellowy-white from a motorhome accessories place, or at a show.
I have lined all my cupboards, and then I also have a piece between each plate.
I have also cut a piece as a table cloth, because I don't always park very level and hate the idea of a glass of red wine sliding off the table and onto the upholstery.
With pots and pans, I have various cotton bags and things like that.
And then, pocket size packs of tissues can be used in various cupboards to wedge things together - so you never run out of tissues either.
which clamps the plates quite securely - depends if you have room to store them flat

Then being a rough and ready sort of girl I stuff cushions and throws in the cupboard on top of the 'stuff' so everything is either too tightly packed of at least muffled
takes two mins and on arrival remove cushions and put on settee and hey presto!

I like most have used the rubber stuff. I find it rucks up and is a pain. I in the end bought, from Ikea, some hard plastic tubs, size of the depth of the cupboard for my tins etc. This keeps them all in place and prevents being knocked out by a tin flying out when opening a cupboard and prevents denting of work tops. For plates you can buy preformed platic shapes that fit into the cupboard to accommodate plates and cups. These I found to be too big to fit in my cupboards I took the cheap option and placed a Tupperware tub in the plate cupboard and used some cheap rubber trivets between. In three years have not had a plate fatality and tins are secure and don't camikazi out of the cupboard. Cups go on their rim rather than base direct onto the black rubber stuff and glasses I bought a preformed square with elastic between, which can hold up to 9 glasses. This too works and no glass breakages. Oh and I stuff a pillow in with the glass to stop rattles.
pack loads of tea towels to wrap around things, and then you never run out of tea towels - 10p a throw at charity shops will get all you can ever use
