Having a small van, I appreciate the idea/build of that generator - and adding a car alternator would make it too big/heavy. Very neat bit of work. Now if you could control the max voltage....
Are you controlling rpm manually? Albeit "fixable"? In which case does it need adjusting every time the current draw changes?
Nice DIY!

If anybody is really keen I have some brand new boxed Bosch 90 amp alternators (which include the regulator) and would donate FOC to a project if some photographic feedback was offered.
Any Takers?

Yes, I made a simple hand throtle control. You are right it will need adjusting with varying load, but only having tried it once so far, I don't know just yet how much the voltage will actually rise when the charging current drops.
Ideally it would have some sort of automatic throttle control to keep it at a set voltage, not sure how to implement that though. I think it will do me like this.

That is a generous offer Clive.
I have also posted on a narrow boat forum re the generator, and maybe some people have an interest in building one with an alternator (they like heavy, solid constructions on there, not necessarily light RC motors!). Would your offer extend to narrow boaters, in which case I could post a link to your offer?
