On my 616 I paid £254.67 for an oil service plus replace the brake fluid in Dec 2010. This inc all parts and vat. and was at an MB dealer near Guildford

On another issue my brake warning light came on whilst in South of France last month. MB dealer took a look and said I needed new front discs and pads. Van has done 42000Kms. Got a quote from same MB dealer of E789. Came back to UK and got a quote from dealer in Guildford of £585 all in.

Given that MH does mainly long journeys in Europe and 50% on motorways 42000kms doesn't seem much mileage to be replacing pads and discs - any thoughts.

Regards

David

It' s a heavy beast though and I would have expected break wear to be significant.

Did it need an oil change? Possibly not but I like to have th oil changed once a year.
The motorhome is looked after and is used all year round but having only done 10,000 miles this past year the service assyst had no lit up.
It had the 'full' service done a year ago so it just made sense to get the oil and filter changed. It is a heavy vehicle and most of th emiles have been with a smart on a trailer so all up about 7 tons being pulled by the little 2.7.
I really am more than capable of doing this myself but at the moment when we are not in the motorhome it is in storage so there just isn't anywhere for me to do the work.

Not sure how long we'll keep this motorhome - it may be for a long time or just another year - I do feel that maintaining the main agent history is important for resale.

As I said, I think my shock is that we are used to service costs in the US where any car is only $30 for an oil service at a main agent - it's like a standard price. Having said that they do change oil at 3500 miles.

On another point I had expected to hear that the brakes were low - but apparently they show almost no wear at all..
