We have seen a similar trend for trade shows, Excel have been very active in trying to get shows moved to them, my company have exhibited at both and can confirm the extra costs to show at Excel are down to hotels, travel etc with a lower footfall it is more expensive to show at Excel, unless you use public transport getting to Excel it is a nasty journey from any direction
The NCC show their usual arrogance with the positioning of their show both date wise and location, I feel it will be damaging to both shows
Another point to bear in mind, as from Jan 2012 many motorhomes only a few years old will be non-compliant as far as the LEZ is concerned.
So if you are over 3.5t gross, you may not wish to pay the £200 cost by going within the restricted zone.
If any suppliers intention is to display secondhand vans for sale, as well as new, this could put a damper on the numbers that attend also.

It has been announced that Ocean Media will be hosting next years NEC show from the 21st to the 26th February, however the NCC are also hosting their brand new Show "The NCC Motorhome, Caravan and Camping Show" which is due to take place 14th - 19th of February 2012.
As the NCC Motorhome, Caravan and Camping Show" is organised by NEC events, an organisations set up by the caravaning industry, I assume because they were not happy with something about the established show, I cannot see them supporting Ocean Media? The CC and the C&CC support most if not all shows.
How does it fit in with >this show< which appears to be also organised by NEC Events?

The idea of having two "major" shows within two weeks of each other is, in my opinion, not in the best interests of the Caravan, Motorhome and Camping Industry. To me it sounds like too much politics.
For my money Excel is a bad location for any major show and I can well appreciate that for most people it is a difficult place to get to whichever method you choose.
I am no particular fan of the N.E.C., but it is a large, central venue for a major exhibition and more easily accessable from all over the U.K.
It also provides for plenty of space for car parks and a campsite whereas at Excel, car parking is limited and very expensive and I don't know if there are plans for a campsite.
I live in Guildford, Surrey yet I can travel to the NEC quicker, more comfortably and at lower cost than to Excel.
For me, one thing is certain. If the new Excel show reduces attendance of Manufacturers/Suppliers at the N.E.C. ( which is no doubt the aim of the N.C.C.), then I, and many like me, will probably not attend either show.
Come on Manufacturers and Suppliers - Get your act together!
