As per the title, can someone help me please, with a problem concerning our Electrolux Traveller 2500H petrol generator.
Whilst I am able to start it, it will not run continuously, without the help of the choke button, ie, it tries to stall, but when the choke button is operated for a split second, it will continue to run for about 10 seconds and then stall. If I put a load on whilst it is running, (even the smallest load), it stalls immediately.
So far, I have....
1..Drained and cleaned the fuel reservoir under the carburettor.
2..Changed the inline fuel filter and primed it.
3..Changed the spark plug and reset the electrode gap.
4..Established a spark, and re-established clean fuel at the carb.
5..Established a clean burn at the spark plug, (light brown deposits on electrode).
The same stalling symptoms are present, with or without a clean air filter in situ, and I am now at a loss with the problem.
Although we don't use it very often, (only 35 hrs running time during three ownerships), as it is a permanent installation, we would like it to function properly, and be available when needed.
Any ideas or pointers please? Efforts to gain info from so called Electrolux/Dometic generator specialists, have been fruitless.
Regards,
Jock.

Thanks Cookies. I haven't quite got to the stripping down stage ..........yet, but it may well result in that. I
Thanks Stew. The fuel has been in there for some time, (years even), and I did consider draining it off and changing it, but may experiment with a feed of fresh fuel to the carb first, ie, bypassing the tank.
The other thing that I perhaps should have mentioned, is that this problem has been progressive over months, so Stew's suggestion of fuel quality/age might well be the problem.
Cheers,
Jock.
Edit, Keep them coming please.

I have bypassed the tank using a fresh unleaded fuel source, and the problem still exists, which leads me to believe that the problem isn't a fuel quality issue, but may stiil point to fuel starvation.
Once warm, the generator will run constantly, and operate the 12v battery charger/Electroblok, and the air conditioning with it's fans, however, if I try to operate the heating element on the air con, or the fridge, or a portable mains fan heater, the revs die off down to an idle, and often it conks out.
Before I start stripping the carb, (extremely tight working area), are there any other suggestions, or confirmations as to what is causing the problem........please?
Regards,
Jock.

My thanks to all who posted helpful suggestions, especially, The-Cookies and Pete_b
Pete's push to strip the carb was what was needed, and The Cookies suggestion of a blocked jet was spot on. It was partially blocked, and obviously wasn't allowing enough fuel through when a heavier load was required. The jet was covered in a green coating. It all runs a treat now after cleaning and reassembly.
It's a long time since I worked on anything petrol powered, and was trying to avoid the nitty gritty of dismantling the fuel system.
Jez, what I will do now, is to buy and dose the tank with a quality cleaning additive, and run it through for an hour or so initially.
Thanks again folks.
Cheers for now,
Jock.
