i think it's there to try & stop inadvertent duplicates. Part of the software.......

It doesnt always work as I and other's manage to get a duplicate reply and I have to go in and delete one quick because if someone else puts a reply on then you cant delete a post.

yes, they sometimes get duplicated, mostly when there's a glitch somewhere - this one I think stops duplicates when you press the buttin twice in quick succession.

It is done to stop people spamming the forum. You get some idiots decide to hit a forum and may post a stupid amount of posts very fast (have known over 100 in a hit) Sometimes humans other times whats called spam bots.

I think it's called flood control, stops the system being flooded.
Duplicate posts tend to happen on slow/poor internet connections, it's happened to me a number of times where you think your click made no reaction so you do it again and again then they all show up at once.
Like Mavis said if you realise you've double posted you can still delete the second one up until a post is made after you and the delete tab disappears.

as other Mods would say, duplicates do happen for a variety of reasons and we always try to remove the duplicate as soon as we notice it. So, if you do inadvertently duplicate a post and cannot remove it, then let one of us know and we will act as soon as we can.
