I'm looking for satnav, mainly for UK & France/Spain...
The budget is up to 350

I've heard that garmin has better euro mapping but that came from someone who wanted to sell me one Rolling Eyes

Any help demystifying the choice would be gratefully received Very Happy

Thanks Dave, much appreciated...

I'm fast getting to the opinion that
Ya pays ya money and ya takes ya choice

Maybe I should just buy her a 2006 map, give her a few more lessons and something to keep her awake Wink

It's becoming mainstream. Last night on tv there was an ad for Garmin's satnav range-a Garmin ad! Navmans are currently in Staples starting at £169.
Cars are being sold with free Tom Toms and you know you have arrived when it gets nicked!! caution dear friends

Hello sng

Have a look at this item ast QVCuk.com. You can have this out on 30 day MBG no questions asked. At the moment the the MBG time is extended to 25th January. You could have a good try of it & send it back if you dont like it.

We used the 510 in France this year and it was brilliant. We did not like the Garmin in France:-

Item No 554301

Navman ICN 520 In Car Sat-Nav with 3.5" Colour Touch Screen, UK & Euro Maps

QVC Price £362.00

You need never get lost again with this Navman ICN 520! Its 128Mb memory card has been preloaded with detailed maps of the UK - simply type in a post-code, street or town and it will find the best route in seconds. It can even recalculate your journey if there are traffic jams or diversions. This handy unit has an intuitive 3.5" LCD touch screen and a built-in rechargeable battery. Lightweight and small, it's perfect for when you're on foot and easy to transfer from vehicle to vehicle. You'll also receive a CD ROM with European maps and accessories

This is the improved version of the 510 which we have. It comes as a complete package of UK & Europe. down to street house level. Screen mount & remote control. Normally you have to pay extra for the Europe maps & the remote control.

Hi, I use a nav man for travel, paid around 340 pounds for it a year ago, great tool, far better then getting lost all the time with her map reading. I was able to get all the EU maps off e-bay for 8 pounds and the system works OK, may let you down from time to time in very bad juctions when the gps pickup is a bit slower then the travel speed but one soon works around that and drives to suit. Overall a good item, and I liked the idea of being able to use it when walking around the odd city.
There maybe better systems out there at the moment, but the Nav man works for me. The France mapping is good. But UK post codes It doe,s fine a bit miss leading at times. Terry

Just for the record I have a Navman PDA based GPS, had Garmin before and much prefer the Navman in user terms, cannot really compare them for mapping as they are polls apart, both in price and age. But I do find the Navman simple and straightforward to operate.
Bruce, my Navman voice is easy to hear and I actually realised the other day that I turn him on ( in the best possible way Embarassed ) even if I know where I am going just for the company, Laughing
well partly for that reason but also if I have to divert from a known route due to traffic hold ups etc he will get me back on track PDQ.
All in all I would not be without him now Wink

buy a TomTom go. I have had one for over a year. it's simple to use, portable, and has never let me down. You can search by postcode, address, and points of interest, including most Caravan Club campsites.

I'd second the Tom-Tom, had it for a couple of years, upgraded to the version 5 this year, been all over Europe with it, spot on all the time, Have a look at these
