Hi everyone never done forums before so be gentle Very Happy

I've just bought a 2007 Burstner Argos 748 on a Fiat chassis & to my total dismay it doesn't have cruise control !! I know I should have checked but knowing how expensive these were new never thought it wouldn't have it.

Spoke to a few aftermarket dealers about getting cruise fitted and also Fiat who wont !! but really hoping to get a little feed back from people who have had cruise fitted & if it works as well as described.

Thanks David

I have an aftermarket one on my 2000 Hobby. It was there when I bought but will go see the make later. Works well.

Ray.

Its not possible to retro fit a genuine one you will have to have an aftermarket one.

Not sure if you are asking about cruise controls in general, but if you are .....then yes they work very well.

I have the Fiat factory fitted CC and I use it a lot.
Just a couple of days ago we drove down Spain's A23 which is 140-something kms long without stop or roundabout. Used CC all the way and was almost tempted to go back to the kitchen and make a coffee Very Happy .

Never thought I would use it much but have used it a lot even in the UK.

I had cruise control fitted to my secondhand Knaus by Essenjay before I picked it up. Link here:

Same system is fitted by Conrad Anderson here:

This seems to be a popular unit and looks professional when fitted. The control unit is pretty easy to use (although I prefer the one on my Audi) and has three memory buttons, allowing you to preset three speeds.

It's not cheap to have fitted, but makes driving a really relaxing experience. On motorways and dual carriageways I set the speed to 55mph and watch the world (and most traffic) pass by! Brilliant!

Hi David and welcome to mhf,

I have had cruise control retro fitted on my 2.8JTD Ducato at a cost of £395.I forget the model no.but it is the one with the 2 presettable speed options which works really well.

It was done by Phil from Rhinoinstalls who is a trade member on here.

He came to my house to fit it and took less than 2 hours and I would recommend him.

In my opinion it is essential equipment for a motorhome especially if you travel long distances on the continent.I use it a lot in the UK as well because we try to travel out of peak times when the roads are quieter. It allows the driver to relax the right foot for long periods and makes the journey more comfortable. Wink

mod note-moved to the Fiat Ducato forum.

I've retro fitted the factory cruise to mine, all the wiring is present in the dash loom. I bought the steering wheel, column contact and brake switch and then just a case of configuring the engine ecu to 'cruise present'. I did consider an aftermarket kit at the time but it did work out slightly cheaper to go the factory route. If you're having someone do it for you it may be a different story though.

Worth every penny...Wink

I have a right knee that is getting worse all the time and due for a half replacement operation soon I hope.
I wouldn't be without cruise and just cannot understand how any body can say you can't use them in the UK, I use mine as much as 90% of some journeys.

Mine is the second one down here ......................

"ZT35M Steering column mounted stalk with two preset memories + AP300"

As he says it's probably the most intuitive one you can get - but they all become second nature after a while.

Have cruise control, fitted by Conrad Anderson. Reasonable price and
Very good especially for 'average speed' cameras and speed cameras.

Also useful to turn it on while you pop into the back to turn the kettle on.
Yes it has been done ----in America.

And I am only (or am I !) joking.
