Right then in conclusion.
I just tripped my mains and switched over 5 amps of load on including the inverter. Battery voltage steadied at 12.8 with my 60 & 80 watt panels giving 5.8amps in a clear blue sky at 15:00hrs.
First disconnected the 80 and the battery voltage dropped to 12.2 with 2.2 amps being delivered by the 60 watt panel.
Reconnected the 80 and disconnected the 60, still 12.2 volts but 3.3 amps charge.
Reconnected both and back to 12.8volts and 5.8 amps.
My conclusion is that in no way shape or form does the 60 drag the 80 down and the combination of the pair is better than the sum of the individuals.
I'm using a Juta CMP24 regulator with LCD display

I hope this helps everyone?

While I'm on holiday next week I'm going trip the mains for the day and put as much load on as possible while there's a clear sky. When the battery drops to sub 12 volts I'll try each panel individually and report back.

Andy, why trip the mains, will not switching off the battery charger be enough and you will still be able to use the 240v side for kettles and the heating if required.

I have an auto inverter installation as in the link in my signature, copied from Clive Mott (thanks Clive) So to put load on my batteries I have to enable the inverter to feed my 230volt sockets.

Just now (via cheapo 350watt inverter) I have my 22" LED LG tv running from one skt and my Samsung NC10 plus netbook running off another (this shows as 4.8 amps on my regulator load output. In addition I have the HD sat receiver and 70 litre coolbox running direct from the batteries.
I can run all day like this and barely lose anything but It's unlikely I ever would run this load constantly. My 2x110amp batteries are more than adequate, if I was to improve anything it would be another solar panel for those less than brilliant days.

Not connected to this topic but my microwave installation is the dogs danglies. I'm on 10 amp hook up and it has been used with fridge and water heater on and not tripped.
