Omnistor make their own tie down straps which I believe may be a better choice than the slotted type that goes into the horizontal slot that runs along the front of the awning. The Omnistors design locks into a slotted hole at the top of each leg.
The front rail tie down prohibits using the wind/sun screens that are becoming ever more popular.
The Omnistors are called 'Hold down kits' and are very strong.

You can use the slot in groove type of straps with blocker panels. You cut a small section of the bead out of the panel large enough to slot the tab from the strap. There are also quite a few variations of leg on the Omnistor so the slot in groove option is best as it fits them all.
There we where, sitting out under the awning. The day was so hot, not a breeze anywhere and very still. All of a sudden a freak gust of wind blew the awning right up in the air (the legs where at right angles to the motorhome) which then came down with a bang breaking the leg joint at the top. Then all was still again. NEVER will we put the awning out without the tie-down strap again. !! We have had people say"expecting a windy day are you" when we are using it but once bitten,,,,,,,,,,,,,
