Hi TM.
It does seem to do everything as indicated in the add and there is a video available if you Google J8 phone.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SLsbv9n1Gg

It's not as smooth and swish as the iPhone when scrolling but the dual SIM functions well and I can access e-mail as and when I have a Wi-Fi signal.

As my old phones are many years old and are about to need new batteries, this one suits me just fine.

Ray.

I bought a "phone" - a looky likey to the i phone, it was cheap and cheerful and about £30 delivered, dual sim all that.

I wanted it because at the time i had a works phone and a personal phone, all the features of receiving calls from both lines to one handset etc etc appealed.

the quality was appalling it didn't work properly and the biggest clue of all is the fact that thy are supplied with two batteries, not out of generosity but necessity, i think i made one call about 5 minutes long and the battery was dead.

so after about two hours it went back in the box and into the cupboard, which is where it now resides. if you would like to have a go you are more than welcome to it just drop me a line

Dave

Thanks for the offer Dave.
Being a bit of a 'magpie' I might just take you up on that to experiment. Can I ask which phone it was specifically please?

I have no great expectations of this J8 phone being only 1/10th. the price of an Iphone. But my requirements are quite modest as well.

My prime need is the dual SIM to eliminate carrying the wrong phone around. Even this requirement is very limited for me and my calls are less than 20/30 mins a month or about a fiver.

I am not one of the iPhone set who have the phone on display all the time texting and playing with it. I have it for the odd call and maybe accessing the odd e-mail.

I do get somewhat annoyed at people who feel the need to fiddle with a phone while dining or chatting with me. I don't expect their undivided attention but trying to socialise with a glazed expression to the beeps, is in my opinion very rude.

Ray.

A mate of mine has one of these dual sim iPhone look alikes (since when they were £39) it is now a couple of years old.

His works mobile sim (contract) is in one slot and his own (payg) in the other slot. It is a dead ringer of the iPhone, the only thing missing is apples logo.

I have had a play with it on a couple of occasions and the only thing I can fault it on is its lack of 3G ability - if thats not a problem, there are no issues. The camera whilst not upto latest specs does take decent pictures. Audio is fine and his sim cards are different networks. No problems with signal unlike a proper iphone

Could have written the same myself Dave. Hopefully the issues (not very good touchscreen, woeful battery life) have been sorted on the variant Ray bought. If I'm honest, can't really see the point of buying a smartphone (i.e. runs apps) then getting a non IOS/Android one as you're pretty much limited to the inbuilt apps. In theory the one I got should have run java ones, but it didn't. All-in-all, bit like buying a PC that won't let you install new programs. Realise Ray's motives were a bit different, though.
