As far as I know Freeview signal finders and Satellite signal finders work on completely different frequencies.
So you either need a dedicated one for each or, if they make one, a dual use signal finder.

You are right, Terrestrial and Satellite use different systems. No part of either system is compatible apart from the cable.

Thanks both...

That's what I thought/was afraid was the case.

Anybody want to swap a terrestrial finder for a satellite one? I've got 2 spares.

You can get a combined terrestrial aerial/satellite finder for about £30. It's made by "Fringe Electronics" and I've found it very good.

I use a Status directional aerial with an Avtex (Freeview/annalogue) TV.
Finding the direction is never a problem. Raise aerial. If no other aerials in view, switch on and tune in. If a poor signal turn aerial 180 degrees and then retune. If still poor rotate until OK.
It works in all the Northern European countries and take less than 3 minutes.(and costs nothing Wink)

I have just made a mod for my status to mount an Aldi dish on it and then use the pole of the Status for direction and the little winder for elevation.I still have to elevate and house the dish by hand until I can think of a solution.

I've got a Status 530 and would say its excellent for terrestrial Freeview (is there another kind ??) - as to direction - just take a look at the rooftop aerials in the neighbourhood ie point in the same direction - the residential static caravans on some sites are also a very good guide !!
