Have seen the "perfect" Wink motorhome for our needs...after only 18months of looking....only to discover that Lowdhams no longer import them boo hiss.

The guy I spoke to at Nottingham branch did not know who else might be importing them either and said there was no sinister reasons they had stopped importing this range. They do have some Eriba Car models (ex-demo 2004) but it is the Eriba Van 556 I have totally fallen for.

It seems to have all we need, based on a Ford (my preferred choice) has rear U shape lounge with kitchen and bathroom mid ship. At the front a half dinette seats 2 with full seat belts all under 6 metres in length.

I understand that Hymer in France (Alsace) build these vans so we may have to go through a dealer there. Does anyone have any info at all - either on importing one of these vehicles or on the Eriba Van. Anything at all would be most welcome
Cheers
Maura

Hi Jim
thanks for reply and yes I have looked at all possible connections with Eriba in the UK but they only sell the Eriba Caravans unfortunately.

Lowdhams still have some ex-demo's but they not the model we are after - and have read bad reports on this company's after sales service.

Which Motorhome Mag (March 2004) suggested Hymer-France at that time as they were not aware of any dealers in UK either (apart from Lowdhams). The Eriba Van gets great write up and has just the layout I am after with the plus of being on a Ford so I was hopeful that someone on MHF might be able to help with info (such great fount of knowledge in here Very Happy ).

Will have to try and find a dealer in France or Belgium but my Fronglaise is fairly limited - thank goodness for Babel Fish language converter website.

Thanks again.

Maura

As I am particularly interested in m\homes I can never afford I do like to dream and really get cheesed off when I go to a website with really sod all info and hardly a picture in sight. This is the case with Lowdhams. There is I suppose a marketing reason but we are in an age I think where we want information now, not next week in the post.

I am actively looking for something no more thatn £25k and if the website has little info on their sales, I just move on as is the case with the companys website.

if I am the only one then any dealers reading this can ignore my comments.

Hi Pusser
I agree about the website but a chap I spoke to at Lowdhams did say they were having huge problems with it at the moment. Normally I would not be impressed with such a pitiful excuse - all that money they should be able to put together a decent site...however, I have had a little bit of experience working for someone who also had massive probs getting his website up and running. He spent a serious amount of money and hundreds of hours supplying info to the design company and it's still a really sh*te website. So maybe I will give them the benefit of the doubt this time.

I also spend a lot of time Shocked 'surfing' the websites of all the many and varied motorhomes we have considered buying since first bitten by the bug. I have a room full of info but still no motorhome. Sod's Law says the one I "think" is perfect for us and I can't find a blooming dealer to supply it to us, how frustrating is that?

I can tell you that there are a whole lot worse sites out there than Lowdhams, beats me why they bother at all.

Hey ho, (stepping off soap box now).
Hope you keeping fit and well and have a Splendid Christmas, sorry I'm not techie enough to insert suitable Jingly Yuletide emoticon at this point Crying or Very sad
will have to get the very lovely daughter to assist...when she finds time from enjoying herself that is.

Cheers

Maura

Have you tried www.hymeruk.com. The Hymervans are very similar to the Eriba and have your preferred Ford layout in a sub 6m vehicle. No details on layout but there is provision for you to order a brochure.

I think gelathae may be right here, it seems to me the french built eriba-van is the same as the german built hymer-van, albeit with different graffics and all part of the same company. Is this the correct eriba van youre referring to maura, i can't find any other models?
