Thanks Rob - thats the one. It doesn't really show the rear lounge very clearly but you get the general idea. At the very bottom of the pdf. file there are all the Eriba van layouts. I like the Eriba Car as well and the Jet is something else but for our needs and coming in under 6m I think the Eriba Van would be ideal.

I do agree with you about the cost of a Hymer, our budget has been completely blown away looking at these pictures and we may still decide to settle for a decent pre-owned if the 'procuring' of an Eriba proves to be beyond our skills.

So....if you or anyone else can think of any other MH under 6metres, with rear lounge, 2 forward facing seats with belts (not including driver/front passenger)
on a Ford (or Merc Wink ) then Please Please let me know.

Until then, I'll continue with the Eriba dream and if anyone is passing through France I would be very grateful if they can let me know if they see any and what they think of them.

Off now to prepare for the Christmas Invasion...Daughter arrives today,Son + Daughter-in-Law and 2 grand children aged 6 and 3 also expected any time soon. Pass the paracetamol Shocked

Cheers

Maura

hi maura

campirama in belgium are eriba campingcar dealers.

i sent them an email when i saw your post again on christmas day. they replied this morning confirming that they sell them.

i bought my hymer from them about a year ago. they all speak excellent english because 60% of their sales are to the uk.

in my opinion they are a good dealer. i had a roof leak fixed under warranty with no problems and they have got me anything i wanted in a reasonable time. the only quibble i have had with them was that when i arrived to collect the van they were still preparing it. in some things dealers appear to be the same the world over.

Hi Maura, I went to Camparama a few years ago to buy a used Hymer which they had described as being in good condition over the phone. When i saw the van it was the biggest heap of cr*p i had ever seen, dented half way along one side right to the rear, dent on bonnet, delamination of interior woodwork , holes in curtain around the bed, interior was filthy as were the lockers, which contained a pair of muddy wellie boots.needless to say i did not buy it.I believe they are very good if you are buying new as i know friends who have had excellant deals and service from them. Hi Mike & Smiler
First of all my apologies for not replying to your posts but for some reason I didn't receive any notification of them Crying or Very sad
So a belated thanks and Happy New Year!

I will try this company and see what sort of price they come up with for starters I think. Trouble is at this stage we haven't seen one in the flesh so to speak. We now have the brochure from Eriba and it lists all the dealers in Europe so we are trying to plan a visit to France or Belgium so that we can organise a test drive etc.

It is so hard to know if its safe to trust a company which gets both negative and positive reports especially when parting with a considerable amount of money. On the other hand Lowdhams in the UK seem to get nothing but bad press and they were the only UK dealer who had some Eriba's in stock (not the model we want) but I would have purchased from them if they could have got me the one we wanted just because they are here in the UK - mad isn't it?

We are hoping to go to the Shepton Mallet show this week (if we can escape the builders at home) just to have another look at what is on offer and available here but now I have seen the Eriba everything else looks hopeless.

Thanks again - much appreciated.

Maura

Followed this string with interest as we also intend buying a motorhome this year and we have a budget and a length we do not wish to exceed. (6m.) We have just returned from France to inspect a Chausson Flash 02 ,which is only available in lhd and will not be imported into the UK. Ford Transit base but sadly it did not meet our expectations and we are now looking at the Chausson Welcome 55 on the Fiat base. The new Fiat base vehicle apparently comes out later this year and we were going to wait to see what it looked like ,before we ordered. On arrival back at Cairngorm the new Practical Motorhome March addition with the Hymer Van on the front cover was waiting to be read. Nice van within length but over our budget of £30K. Life is a bitch. Hence my delight to read about the the Eriba and it seems to be within our budget. Will need to inspect it obviously but will wait till one arrives in Britain. If anyone has any information where the Hymer can be seen ,please post it.

Hi Cairngorm
I have made extensive enquiries about the Eriba Van which is made by Hymer in France for the French market only - and can confirm that at this moment in time it will not be on sale here in UK. (please also see topic "Warranty on Imports" which may be of interets to you as it features a lot about the Eriba Van)

Couple of points about the Eriba Van.
1) It is identical to the Hymer van (apart from having U shape rear lounge and Hymer has fixed bed). so getting Hymer quality.
2) Don't know much about the Chausson but my guess is the quality on the Hymer would be superior (sorry if I'm wrong here)
3) If you import the Eriba using Bundesvan he is quoting around £25,770 to do all paperwork, and deliver to your door, 12 months road tax etc - all above board. You have to pay for any extras you require like Sog toilet, awnings etc but he will quote for those as well.
4) Obvious probs will arise with warranty on an imported vehicle - see other topic.

Hope this helps.
Maura

Just to clarify for you, he Eriba Van 546 has the fixed bed (which we want) and the 556 has the rear lounge which you require.

Thanks Cairngorm
I know the Eriba has the 2 versions - as you say models number 546 & 556 but what I was saying (probably not very well) is that these are only available in France on the Eriba - they are not yet available in the UK as the Eriba brand.

The Hymer Van which is available here in UK is known as model 522 and was at the recent Shepton Mallet show. Brownhills seem to be only dealers who have it at the moment although Hymer UK are hoping to get one in shortly.

So Eriba 546 and Hymer 522 are one and the same thing, just different badge.
This means you have a choice of buying either here or in France whereas I can only buy the model I want in France (at this moment in time).
