It must be so frustrating. I am sure if you email lots of 'parts finder' type services they will come up with one. I would not use your normal email address, set up a gmail one. That way you can email as many parts finders as you can find and you wont get inundated with spam.

Yes, I've tried some of those but am a bit wary since they require chargeable mobile phone text messages to be sent and also use high rate premium phone numbers for the responses, not too comfortable with getting involved with those . . .

Maybe there is a Peugeot van forum or just a Peugeot forum that has a van section.

Will Google for something like that, cheers.

You mention that your vehicle is not road legal. I believe that you only have to have a method to tell how fast you are going. So you should be OK with a gps that displays speed. I don't actually think a working mileometer is a legal requirement. Although I wait to be corrected.

I looked up the regs and technically it is a legal requirement although chances of being detected are slim. I am using my GPS which not only shows my speed but also the speed limit on the stretch of road and it's programmed to go red if I exceed and to make a noise to nag me if I go more than 5 mph over, so if need be would use that to mitigate any charge. Also to my surprise I've been advised it's not part of the MOT.

If you ask Peugeot if anything else is effected they should be able to tell you. I am guessing that any abs wont work off the speedo as it needs individual wheel sensors.

As I say best to get Peugeot to confirm any systems effected by no speed signal.

Good luck and I hope you get it sorted asap.

The only other things affected are the retrofit cruise control and the odometer, which isn't clocking up any mileage - OK, you may say that's a good thing when we come to sell it (!) but if it goes on for much longer it'll look a bit odd if the annual service and MOT have the same figures as the previous year. It's also making my mileage/ fuel consumption log look a bit awry Surprised

Thanks again for all your leads, I will pursue them.

Just found this site : http://www.genuine-parts.eu/Lieferprogramm/Peugeot-Citroen-Teil029.html

listing your part number, although they do list lots of part numbers. Might be worth an email?

Similar site here: http://auto-szrot.com/katalog-firmowy-Peugeot-28

Or this one : http://www.online-teile.com/peugeot/shop_content.php?coID=110

Might be worth a few emails?

Thanks again for those, they have responded promptly but unable to help . . . Sad

Hi Roger,
How did you get on with your Ducato lead? Pergeot / Cotroen did sell vans that were built by Fiat and 2.8 sounds like the fiat engine.

Thanks for this, Bill

I tried Fiat camper assistance on the phone, no joy, they kept bumping me around different departments until I got put on hold for ever.

The Fiat online parts search looks very good, however there are so many different coded designations for different engine configurations that I have no way of knowing whether the part would be compatible with mine, and at around £100 a throw I can't take the risk! I have however passed this idea back to Peugeot customer services as they did say they'd explore every avenue due to the unusual circumstances, so I'll wait and see what they say.

Thanks again for taking the trouble to help research this for me.

Whooop-de-doooo!

Had a phone call from the dealer and an e-mail from Peugeot customer services today - the part we've been waiting for since January has finally arrived!

Peugeot are so embarrassed about keeping us waiting for so long, they are supplying the unit on a Free of Charge Warranty basis. We're due to call in to Conrad Anderson next week on the way back south from Fife to have the replacement part fitted, so hopefully we'll have a working speedo and more importantly the use of our retrofit cruise control again.

Fingers crossed!
