Halfords are selling this PDA based nav for £199 at present with full European mapping on a CD . Nav is down to street level. Bought one Saturday and after trying yesterday it seems OK, including theoretical planning trial trip from Calais to S France.

Nobby

edit:: forgot to mention, it picks up a workable GPS signal IN my living room so it should do well under the overcab.

That's extremely good value, Nobby. I bought a Medion PNA in November but it only had the European cover at major road level. I changed it for a Mio 168 PDA for £175 and installed European Street Level Maps on it but had to pay £120 extra for them. Well done!

Norman
One of the reasons i bought it was because i wanted european mapping and the cost to up grade my Zire 31 with Via Michelin was such that I decided to change machines entirely.
I just need to sell the Zire with it's UK and Eire mapping now. Still it's Christmas and I still have the boxes so perhaps someone will buy it for their "loved one" as a pressie. LOL

Hi,

I bought one of these a couple of weeks ago when Halfords dropped the price to £199. 3 days earlier the price had been £270, and at one time it was £399. So it looked remarkable value compared to everything else on the market. Not only does it include full street level european maps, it also has 2 brackets (one for car and one for a bike) and 2 cases, one waterproof. With many GPS systems these are extra. Laughing

Unfortunately I have not been able to try it out. It was a christmas present to myself, so my wife rapidly took it off me to wrap it up and I am only allowed to open it on Christmas day! Crying or Very sad

Looking forward to trying it in the van, on a weekend away just after christmas. : Laughing

i have this gps sat nav and used it down to spain and return, in the summer ,i find you need to play with it a lot to learn how best to set it up. only dislike was having to select the country when going from france into spain. if anyone knows how to load poi it would be helpful.

cheers dave #X-mas

I bought POI-Warner on-line for 30 euros and it works well with Navigon Navigator 5 with European Street level maps on a Mio 168. The downloads of aires, campsites, etc etc, by country, are free thereafter.
