Does anyone know when my 2006 Renault Master Lunar Motorhome will be due a cambelt change. Ot has done only 17000 miles. Also any idea of rough cost to change the cambelt?
Many thanks

Had mine done at 4 years, even though only done 11,500 miles at the time.
Recommended as garage had experience of other vans of similar age and mileage where the timing belt had failed. Something to do with them becoming brittle through irregular use and long standing times. Cost me £268 in 2009, but also included a new water pump.

For the cost of a phone call , check with a Renault Main dealer , age of a cam belt also affects when it should be changed. If in doubt have it changed ,make sure it's a genuine part , if it breaks you are probaly talking about £2000 in repairs and with out a doubt knowing Renaults we use to have the cylinder head planed , ( cost would be in the £2000 !!

I had my Newstar 58 cam belt changed at 5 years as well. I would do the same with any belt driven cam system. Not worth the risk IMHO. The 3 litre lump in the new van is a chain cam so no problem there.
If it is the 3 ltr engine (Nissan derived) as mine is I am assured by a Renault Garage that it is a steel timing chain.
You will have to put a lot of miles on the clock before that becomes slack.
You will have dCi 140 on your drivers door if it is the 3ltr.
Renault appear to have a lock on anyone producing a workshop manual in paper or cd form for their newer models so have not been able to verify but the garage should be correct.
I hate this compound timing belts as they wreck the upper parts of an engine.
Ours is 06 on Renault 120 dci we are contemplating having it done this month as well. Bracing myself already had our FiArt Hymer done which was a doddle not sure about Renault so Northern Commercials here we come.
Hi, in the service book for my 2006 2.5 dci 120 Renault based Home Car PR52 it says on page 16 that the timing belt and pulleys should be changed at 72,000 miles or 5 years. Mine has also done 17,000 miles and is also due now. I have been quoted over £1,000 for the job by a Renault dealer! If you get a cheaper quote, please let me know.
If yours is a 3 litre it is 10 years
Accessory belt and pulleys should also be changed at the same time (5 years)
Quote I have been quoted over £1,000 for the job by a Renault dealer! If you get a cheaper quote, please let me know. Quote
Just rang my local Renault dealer in Coleraine N. Ireland (OK not be any use to you unless yo come to Ireland for hols ) and been quoted £465 inc vat for belt change due 5yrs or 72,000 miles on Master120.
Some are due 5yrs or 90,000 miles - they check when you give them the reg no.
Maybe you could use this price to deal with your own dealer
Henry.
