Think very hard about payload and being overweight - you need a very large payload to take six people and their gear - even if four of them are little people. If you are restricted to 3500kg on your driving licence I would wager a bet that there cannot be a van out there that can provide what you need legally within a 3500kg limit, even if they are selling it to you.
Very strange situation we have here - you will find loads of references on this site to this problem.
You really need something with well over 3500kg max weight to take six people and thgen you may not be able to drive it.
Sorry to be a pessimist but this is a problem that is probably quite large but conveniently hidden in sales brochures.
And don't even think about putting some useful and interesting toys on the van because they all add weight.

Brian
From expeirence if you want to stay legal you have to tackle the points that Brian has made first. I do not think you can do it in a 3500 Kg van.
With regard to getting a motorhome under 3500k for six people, it can be done, especially if 4 of them are young children, as is the case with the original question. 6 adults would pose more of a problem. We used to have a Kenntucky Camp, rear wheel drive ford, used a lot by motorcross teams, said to be suitable for 6 adults, and a motorbike in the garage!!!! All under 3500k if you read the manufacturers blurb, strang how they never published payload figures though, made by Rimor I believe.
edit: opps, sorry, it didn't say 4 children, my mistake
