We have a Swift Bessacarr E560, this w/e we tried camping without an electric hook up. The only thing we couldn't fathom out how to get to work was the water heater!

Any ideas? I am sure it is operator error, but the panel is not the easiest to get to grips with. How long should it take for water to heat up using the leisure battery?

Looking forward to replies!

Correct me if i'm wrong but I would have thought your water is heated by gas when off hook-up?

Not sure on your MH but normally water heater runs off gas. In ours there is a separate control for 240vac or gas for the heater. Sometimes I have to turn the gas control on and off a couple of times till I get a constant green light.

Hope that gives you a clue?

I assume your water heating is gas and electric. If you are off hook-up, then you need to set to gas - it won't work on electric when off hook-up. That is mains only.

Hopefully somebody else will confirm, as my memory is a little vague, but don't you need to remove the cover outside the van to heat the water on gas?

It depends Wink

Ours is a Truma, and from 'cold' to the lower of the two temperature settings (which is sufficient for showers) takes about 20 minutes in the summer. In the winter, when the van (and therefore the water in the Truma) is a little cooler, it can take 30 minutes or so.

If it's the same as our Bolero, then there are 2 dials. If you turn the right one to the 3 o'clock position (picture of a little flame) and then turn the left one fully anti clockwise to the 60 degree sign, then that should start it heating on gas.

We switch ours on when we wake up. Then by the time the kettle has boiled, we've had a cup of tea and got up, put away the bed etc........the shower is ready to use.

As mikeyv says - if it's got a removable external cover on the vent then it must be removed before the gas boiler will fire up.

Our current van has a removable vent cover, but the previous van did not (and therefore there was no need to remember to take it off!).

We always put the removable cover on the dash, so we don't forget to replace it before driving off.

Hi,

Here is a quicksheet that I have for my E560, 2010 model.

Should be the same accross the Swift models

If you set the powersource select to Gas only and the heating selector to your required setting ie 2 o'clock for 60deg water heating only

Hope this helps you

James
