Unfortunately I bought a Comag HD from Maplins on 20th May and as of June 6th it wont receive BBC HD channels as it does not support DVB-S2
As I only discovered this today Maplins wont accept it back because more than 28 days have elapsed
I think Trading Standards would take this up for you. Selling you an item that will only work fully for a few days sounds like very sharp practise from Maplins. Maybe worth contacting their head office too.

I agree but from the flip side they could argue that the BBC only gave a few days notice and they sold in good faith? But to me they probably buy these at about a tenner each whilst I lose £85
I already phoned customer service and was dealt with in no uncertain terms.
I have emailed customer services and await a reply.
This change affected freesat and Sky, so anyone with a non-freesat or non-Sky box should check the specs of the box.
Any official freesat or Sky box will have gone through the transition automatically apart from Panasonic receivers and there are very few of them. A simple retune of a Panasonic would have broght the channels back within five minutes.
If you have bought a Comag box from Maplins or anywhere else, then it is not a freesat branded box and is a case of caveat emptor. A branded freesat box would have only cost a few pounds more.
