Having made a decision in my mind on type/make of sat dome now all I need to decide on is the make of receiver. Not worried about getting a high definition or all singing all dancing unit. Indeed I have a Zehnder at the moment and may just keep that one rather than changing if its just for the sake of it. Further reviews for me to do I think.

Just to add more to the equasion;

I love tracvision, I have the R4SL myself. But, there's also a new contender too, the Max-dome from Maxview. Although in this case, being the 40cm dome, would be too big??

Dug this out for reference, its the test map that the KVH distributer put together after testing the domes in the field across Europe:

I have the new Max-dome. It is very reliable and I have no problems locking onto a satellite in about 30 seconds.
It is big though!

The link looks to have good info. Are you able to confirm that BBC1 is receivable on ASTRA 19E ? I cant find it and am in the UK

Russell

Edit - in fact, which satellite is 19E? Hotbird? I have no idea but if I can get BBC on 19E it should solve any Europe issues

Ah no silly me - it does say Astra 28 - so BBC and ITV in Southern Spain on a 40cm dish according to the reception reports. I am amazed at that! Not saying it can't be done, but am quite amazed. Saying that we got Corrie in Pompei and Italy a different kettle of fish altogether compared to Spain

Can anyone tell me if the Neta dome system is the same as Maxview?
Can't seem to find too much information from real users on the Neta system.

It does look easy to use with the receiver and controller all in one box with a display on the TV to tell you what's going on.

I've only seen it demonstrated by the distributor so would welcome any 'real' feedback on this system.

Cheers.

G7UXG asks: "Can anyone tell me if the Neta dome system is the same as Maxview?"

Maxview have had 3 domes with their name on.

First was made by Neta and rebadged Maxview. The Neta (according to the President of Wiworld) is simply a copy of the Wiworld dome. Having seen the Neta I have to agree although the combined controller / receiver is all Neta's own work. It seems that Maxview have discontinued this model.

Second was made (I think) by King Controls and rebadged Maxview. (I’m almost sure this is the case but, if I’m wrong, I’m happy to be corrected.) It is operated by remote control in the same way as Maxview’s Vuqube which was also made by King Controls. Maxview are still advertising this model.

Third is the current model which is made by Wiworld and rebadged Maxview. It’s available in two versions, single and twin LNB – both in a 40cm high dome. The mechanical components and the electronics are similar to those found in other models by Wiworld including those badged "Megasat", "RoadPro powered by Wiworld" and "VDO". There are some differences in the mechanical components and the electronics / software of all these units but I won’t go into them here.
