I have to say that i was insured with Saga with my car. A couple of years ago they gave me a fantastic quote for the van then retracted it because I had my car (Audi A6) insurance with the AA (same group of companies, Acromas). Later that year, as it so happens I insured with Saga but not because of my van experience.
However, being insured with Saga for my car, I decided to get a quote from Saga for the van. After nearly 30 minutes telling me how good they were and how they would mirror my NCB (my insurers did even though I only had my van with them), how it is good for this and that and claims etc. Well after all that time it came out 43p cheaper and they genuinely appeared astonished that I declined to change insurers because I was saving money (albeit less than 1p per week).
As it happens, as regards their claims, it was done over the phone. I shall not bore you with the details but suffice to say, they were judge and jury on the matter and irrelevant what I said they had decided I was wrong and they would settle the claim. Basically I was treated like a doddery old fool (well perhaps I might be but I don't want treating like one). I would have thought that Saga at least would have had some respect for their clients.
Just one phone call just after the incident and I'm for the gallows. Seriously, the letter that I received was so dour that I really felt that I was a top criminal. Anyway, my renewal came and it was £250 higher than my previous company.
I didn't insure with either of them. I gave my car away to my son and now me and the good lady share hers and save money all round. I would rather give my car away (which I did) than give Saga another penny.
Strange though and probably another topic....Acromas...Saga, AA etc.
AA....Had loads of things with the AA but by May next year I won't have any contact with them again. Moronic, fools and downright liars (compensated nearly £500.00 because of those idiots).
AA Breakdown
AA Repair
AA European Cover
AA Home Insurance
AA Car Insurance
AA Home Emergency
AA Added Essentials
AA Credit Card (2 different companies)
I used to have confidence in the brand of the AA (which is owned by Acromas...which is Saga) but never again.
