Due to the increased risks imposed by the new .WMF worm and Exploit I have temporarily switched off the forum attachments mod to mitigate the risk a little of a malicious person uploading an exploited file.
This wont be for too long hopefully, apologies for the inconvenience, just keeping MHF a safer place to surf

nope havent touched the gallery as that doesnt support .wmf format at all

This is a devasting worm and can not only trash your hard drive but blow up your cooker and cause your tumble dryer to exceed the safe rpm level.

Can you not set permissions so that only certain files can be attached to threads (such as gif, jpg and bmp)??

The problem with WMF files is that they can be renamed to have one of the extensions that you mention. If one of these, including malicious code was uploaded to the site it could possible cause problems........I do not think for one moment that would happen but there are strange folks out there on the web.
Maybe the upload facility to the picture gallery should be closed too until Microsloth gets its act together and releases a
