Tonka, despite the suggestion with the name, Alko chassis extensions are not aluminium but hot dipped galvanised steel.

ah... I though it had something to do with the weight ie aluminium and making them lighter... Cheers.. something new learned..

Ours is on a Maxis chassis with 16 inch wheels and SV Tech uprated it last year to 4100kg.
The rear axle is plated at 2300kg
Airide is fitted and before folks say that it makes no difference we have had this discusion before and it did enable an extra 100kg.
Obviously the vehicle needs to be on the correct tyres.

hi
i think you have to weigh everything axle by axle then see whats
left.
just bought a 2.2 despatch for work with the heavy axles but the pay load is less than the light because the heavy weighs more.

That was the reason that we upgraded ours as at 3500kg the payload was less than the ordinary chassis. Surprised

Was your rear axle rated at 2300kg originally or was this upgraded?
If it was upgraded was this only by adding air-rides, or was it just a paper exercise?

I'm surprised that there are so many different rear axle weights on what seems predominately Fiat vans.

We have a Renault, but I've no idea if this is a light/heavy chassis.
We are on 16" rims.

For anyone else who has an alko chassis and is wondering about axle loading please see page 21 of this pdf.

Al Ko brochure

PS Grath

Been reading up, I still don't see how air ride can increase axle loading...???
What don't I understand?
