Poloroids were great. When I was shooting for PR and Advertising I knew the composition was right but there was also some character from the agency who knew better. It was a bit like the lady in the shoe shop who tries on thirty pairs and then returns to the first. In the process though we used to charge £5 per poloroid. I can remembering comparing it to printing money - need another poloroid sir, no problem.
The comments about digital are spot on. On a wedding we used to shoot 30 to 50 shots because of proofing costs, now we shoot 600. Thats 600 possible selling opportunities.
The digital camera though is still only the tool though, Scotjimland is totally right - its the way its used.
Our cars now drive with the power that formula ones used to have thirty years ago but I would not claim to be able to drive as well as one of todays racing drivers or for that matter as well as stirling moss did all that time ago. |
