Glad you are sorted, did you get it weighed before buying and if so, with you all in it, plus belongings and clothes, food what payload do you have over. It is better to check this now before buying anything extra. Generators to me are anti social and should ONLY be used in daylight hours but the Honda i10 is the one to go for if it is for charging batteries

H1-GBV that actually is a very good warning Smile

Also thanks Jezport, as itll be the Pure Sine Wave Technology ill go for now to re-charge Wink

wilse im thinking an extra battery too, but ill see how i get on with everything on the 1st run, and outing i take in a weeks time

carol i will weigh it all when i get down there, as its a good few miles from me, and when i went to view the MH, i was on a time limit to get back here, so im hoping it will all be ok, and plus therell only be 4 people on the test run, and take out
As for the generator, ill be using it on wild camping stops, and isolation

Ok next item on the agenda Smile
Anyone have a must take list??, something like a list along the lines of towels, cutlery, salt, pepper Etc, Etc
Or even a torch, batteries, spanners Etc, Etc
I have a wee list, but just curious to see if theres anything i might not of thought of yet??

I think you'd be much happier with half a tank of diesel.Wink

Don't make the common mistake of ever putting the wrong fuel in - thinking of all fuel as "petrol" is an easy way of leading into making that very expensive mistake. Confused

If you are going to be moving around alot and with wild camping that tends to be the general idea then your best bet I would have thought would be extra battery, solar panel biggest you can take weight wise and LED lighting.

Driving day to day will charge your batteries so doubt you will use that much even with the 5 of you. You will learn to adapt and not to leave lights on when you don't need them. Also 5 in a van I doubt you will need the heating often as your body heat will generate quite a bit of heat Very Happy

Really glad you are coming back to keep us up to date, I think what you are doing is mad but fantastic at the same time. Laughing Laughing

Stanner Its still a great warning, as your right about thinking petrol, im so used to putting un-leaded petrol in my car, and motorbike, that i do just think petrol all the time,
Maybe thinking now ill need a memory tab sticker on the steering to start me off thinking diesel Wink

mandyandandy yes an extra battery will be good for us i think, also the LED lighting, but the solar panels we will get on a later date, if needed, though Zepp seems to get on fine with them
As for coming back with updates, we will do that all the time to this thread, who knows we may even meet on our travels Wink

Zepp youve definately got a list of gear that added to my own list of items to take, and your wee blog was great too Wink
I think also solar panels are the way to go for us, especially when we upgrade Smile

One thing we have added to our list is a spare Thetford toilet cassette it does not take long to fill a cassette when yoor wildcamping and drinking cheap wine lol .

We also carry 2 x 10L water containers for drinking water and if you get the ones with the spout you can put the water into the tank .

Like these ones

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JERRYCAN-10L-WATER-CARRIER-CONTAINER-R ED-TOP-FREE-P-P-/150678921431?pt=UK_Campervan_Caravan_Accessories&hash=item231529e0d7

Dont make the mistake we made by getting 40lt ones you can't lift them or you put your back out trying to lift them.

Forgot to say I agree solar is the best way to go , if you take the genny you also have to carry the petrol to run it , we were never happy having a petrol can under the bed .

Paul
