Hi JWW

A suggestion - which will cost you a pint if it works! Laughing

Plug in your dongle.

In Autoroute, go into the "GPS Task Pane" and click on "Configure GPS".

Then tell it to search for the device, and when it has found the COM Port it thinks the dongle is connected to, click to select it and you should be cooking on gas (as it were! Wink )

I think it may be creating a virtual COM Port, which is where the problem may lie.

Let us know how you get on.

P.S. You loaded the drivers ??

If your dongle is the same as mine it came with two drivers on the disk, and some pretty basic instructions!! Shocked

If I remember correctly ( Question ) it says on the box which is the right one to use. Some members had problems with this before I think, but once the correct driver was installed all was well.

Thanks Dave - pint's on the tab!

Yes, I have the correct driver loaded from the disk - dated Nov 2007 but it's more recent than the latest on CNet.

When I tried to update the driver it couldn't find anything better.

When I use AR > GPS Task Pane > Configure GPS, it's looking to COM 12 (correct) but when I click Scan, it finds "No GPS device was found" for both COM 12 and COM 10 (the only 2 ports it's seeing.

I didn't actually go outside with it, but even if it's not locking to the satellites, it should still be recognised by AR?

Wahey - some progress being made!

I found a newer driver, GPSInfo is now seeing the dongle and locking to the satellites.

I opened AR and have been able to see the GPS working. Now I can't wait to get out in the van and test it.

Thank you so much for your help everyone.

Well done JWW - you will not be disappointed.

As I said in my previous post, if it's the same as ours the bloody thing comes with pathetic instructions, two drivers, and one of them don't work! Shocked Shocked

The dongle itself is brilliant though . . . but be sure to plug it into the same USB port every time or Autoroute will not find it automatically.

Have fun.
