No Saddletramp. I have a Sky box but no Oyster receiver, assuming that that is some form of Sky box substitute decoder. Sounds like an Oyster freeserve box

Oh you must have a different Oyster to me as my Oyster controller is also a Receiver.

Saddletramp like you I only have the Oyster controller / decoder, a previous (older) system I had required a separate decoder / receiver, so sounds as though this is the type the OP has.
I found the UK Oyster people to be less than useless, I had a problem / query and emailed them a few times, never got so much as a response from them!!, eventually got the answers I needed from the German site.

there are some systems without a receiver so yours must be one of them

The "Vision" range of Oyster systems do not have a receiver, the "Digital" range includes a receiver, the major benefit is that you do not need to know which satellite etc you need to be on to watch a certain channel and then set the Oyster system to point to that channel and then select that channel on your receiver, i.e. with the integrated Digital system it automatically knows which satellite to point to for which channel and aligns it for you when you select that channel

Well, I visited my Hymer on site and changedb the Sky box, which showed BBC1 straight off. I then discovered that the original one was by then doing the same. So inconclusive and I'll have to test again later.

The fault is not occurring now that I have swapped Sky boxes. The replacement has a card but I can't imagine that that makes any difference.

Bizarre! Blerry Sky boxes. Now Sky HD boxes.... Don't get me started!!!
