And don't forget that today's " Specials " are yesterday's leftovers.

Hi Ray, we always ate at the Les Roitiers when we were doing removals. Always got a good hot 3/4 course meal for around 10 euros.

Yep, really good food and value still today. Our little small village has two and you can see the dozens of trucks both in the car park and up the street.

But even some small roadside restaurants with no parking for large vehicles can offer a special 'Plat de Jour' for around €11 sometimes with wine and coffee. Usually more than I can eat.

Buffalo Grill is again good value but somehow plastic. But the best value plain and simple is a chain called 'Uncle Scotts' where one enormous dish and a drink is about €6.

Ray.

I think if I saw Lamb Shanks on any menu I would anticipate that they would be the preprepared quick zap variety. 2 for a fiver in Morrisons or £7.95 each with mashed taters and veg in our club.

After approx 25 years of travelling to a through France we have learned that if you want really good food stay away from tourist sites and restaurants and eat with the locals.
The establishment may not be as glitzy but the food will be much better and usually the ambiance entertaining.
