There are several 12V Freeview boxes available, but identifying them is difficult as they are constantly changing brands and models. Your best bet is to look at the boxes on display at retailers, Currys, Comet or Tesco and check the power input on the back. If it is a small round plug into the back the likelihood is that it will be 12V. The actual voltage input will be marked close to the input.

Good thinking Gerry, I'll have a snoop around.

Check these Avtex freeview mini boxes out.

Very small. They cost about £40.

It's the "Sagem Picnic" ITD81 SD UK 12v under £20 from the usual suspects--amazon/ebay.etc.
Mines fitted in a overhead cupboard; works with the directional status ariel. You just need to know the rough bearing of the transmitter; then fine tune by signal strength which shows via the tv screen.
You get the transmitter direction from "wolfbane" You just put in your whereabouts postcode.
But, I expect you know that bit?!

I've got one of >>these<<, which is tiny (10cm sq?). I velcro'd it to the back of our drop-down TV, and split the 12v feed to the TV to feed both. Works a treat with our Status aerial, and we've never failed to get a picture.

Seems to work fairly well abroad where it can receive the local free-to-air dvb tv progs too (local language ony, of course). We were in Germany yesterday, and it'd pick up loads of scrambled channels, but only 3 free ones.
