I wonder if anyone can help with a problem I have with a recently acquired camera. I have been using the camera for several months and have taken 200+ photos. I hadn't realised that the camera was set to 'highest quality photos' which has produced massive files which most of my home/work computers struggle to open because they are too big.
I have found some free software which can reduce the individual file size - but they have to be done photo by photo. Does anyone know of any software (hopefully free) where I can do a bulk reduction?

Andy

Hi Andy and Grouch,

I like others use PIXResizer. I have done a couple of tutorials here that may be of interest.

Regards,

Graham

For a cheap and dirty way of resizing in Windows you can mark which photos you want to resize, right click, choose to "send to" email and a box will pop up asking if you want to resize. Choose the size you want and it will resize all the files and stick them in a blank email as attachments. You can then either send the email or drag the attachments on to the desktop (or a folder). Job done, all resized.

Hi,

I have used PIXresizer for batch processing for a number of years. It is free and is available from http://bluefive.pair.com/

CHEERS

And I have. Stew (Artona) put me onto PIXresizer.

Like Grouch, I too would be interested to know the best re-size for email attachments and links, etc.

Cheers,

Jock.

Hi Graham,

The answer to Grouch's query, (and mine too), is in your tutorial PDF, ie, "600 x 600 as the most common size for emails."

Many thanks,

Jock.

Hi,

I don't think you can have a "best size" per se, as it will be dependant on the screen resolution of the recipients computer. Personally, I would suggest 800 x 600 or 640 x 480 (which are standard resolutions) should suffice for images that don't need to be reproduced (printed) in high quality.
