Hi...we had a full width towbar fitted to our Alko chassis and had the same grounding problem (even a very minor incline created issues) as the towbar was 4" or 5" lower than the rear of the van. Ended up removing it and not had any problems since.....but always take care when driving on ferry ramps or a sharp incline.

The towbar was bolted to the Alko chassis via two large flatbars, which had holes drilled to suit the holes on the chassis crossmembers. I removed one side at a time and used wooden chocks to keep it level until all bolts were removed, but as already said it was heavy, but manageable. Wrapped electrics in a plastic bag and attached to chassis with cable ties.

Hope this helps......Cheers

Mark
