Just signed up for a SIM card from Carphone Warehouse for a SIM that gives me 200 minutes and 1000 texts from anywhere in the World for £15.32 a month. It also allows you to receive calls and texts for no extra too. There is a price band for 400 minutes and 3000 texts for about £20.00 but I don't know that many people!

The girl did say it might be going soon, but didn't know when. It's called a SIMple card.

I think it may be the Talkmobile product from the prices quoted:

I could be wrong but are you sure this is the case. I just had a look at the site and when I checked the roaming charges it was 37p a min calling from France but you could call France from the uk inclusively. I fear calls To abroad are included but calls from abroad are not. Also data charges are £1 per mb which is way to high.

Again I could have read this wrong as I'm looking at it on an iPhone from france so can someone else check it?

Well spotted Barry. Dug through the T&C's and found this (look at last line)...

Calls to eligible international numbers will be charged as an international call in accordance with the List of Charges. Inclusive allowances may not be used for Calls to certain countries and certain international numbers. More detailed information can be found in the List of Charges. Inclusive allowances can only be used whilst in the UK (for clarification this excludes Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man) to UK mobiles and UK landline numbers starting 01/ 02/ 03 only and cannot be used for other numbers including but not limited to: non-geographic, non-standard or premium rate numbers starting 08/ 07/ 05, directory enquiries numbers or numbers which incur special or additional charges. Any Calls made whilst outside of the UK will be charged roaming rates in accordance with the List of Charges.

I'm afraid, as hinted at by other posters, you have been miss-sold this tariff.

You do not get 200 minutes 'from' anywhere in the world, but rather to anywhere in the world 'from the UK.

If you view their roaming webpage, this shows you "Calling from and outside the UK". Note that the first box once you have selected say France is from from the UK, the next boxes "When you are not in the UK (roaming)" is the price you pay when you are in France.

This is a fixed cost of 37p per minute for the above example. All of the references to international, except when explicitly talking about roaming is from the UK.

http://www.talkmobile.co.uk/roaming.html

The best value tariff I have found for calling UK from Abroad is from Vodafone. 75p connection charge for up to 60 minutes talk time - or just over a penny a minute. Shorter calls are made on a second 'back up' PAYG mobile on O2. This is handy since it is also Vodafone who offer 25MB/day data for £10/mth.

As far as texts go on Vodafone, you can 'buy' 10 texts a day for £10/mth (free on £40+ tariffs). But if you've got Data you can e-mailed instead Smile
