Soon heading South in our new pride and joy (Oh, OK - she's a T reg Starfire but she's new to us and we love her) and I'm looking to improve security. Can anyone recommend some extra locks for the cab doors (Peugot Boxer). How easy are they to fit? How many hours labour for a garage? What sort of cost for the locks? What is the meaning of life? (Actually, ignore the last one. Evidently the answer is 42)
Before you go down that route just have a look at your pride and joy and ask yourself "How easy would it be for a determined person to gain access to my MH other than via an open door??"
Look at the windows in the habitation area etc and ask yourself how secure they REALLY are.
A better bet (in my view) would be a cheap alarm!!
If you love your van you'll never leave it un attended if it doesn't feel safe. Door locks wont stop them smashing a window. Don't get paranoid. A simple thing like a red flashing LED in the dash works wonders and very cheap
A,nice brightly coloured sticker in a couple of the windows,,,,,,saying...........SMILE YOUR ON CAMERA ....has worked for me for 10yrs ..don.t see any point of changing it regards Les...
I also agonised over motorhome security and almost fitted some secure locks before I realised how vunrable the windows are. Instead of spending a couple of hundred pounds on 3 locks I invested less than £20 on a pack of Milenco window alarms.
They even have a flashing light!
There's some on eBay at present - just search for Milenco alarm.

Some are real expert's and I don't think you can do much more than your best to deter them I fitted my own alarm system. which I thourght was fine. until I saw our camper coming towards us while in the south of France. we had only left it for a quick stroll before going to bed for the night. but that was enough for the thieves. who punched a small hole in the exact spot to open the door. proving they knew exactly what was needed.
Good insurance in case the worst does happen is essential, apart from our standard vehicle immobilser i`ve put a couple of "tracker" and alarm stickers on the van....as others have said if someone wants to get in your van they will regardless of any deterents, use good camp sites and if possible ask others to keep an eye on your van if your leaving it for the day.
We have an alarm and extra locks on all the doors, but another thing we do as soon as we park up is to swivel the seats. This won't stop anybody getting into the van but the driver's seat isn't easy to turn into the forward facing position and it would certainly slow somebody down if they wanted a quick getaway. Other people on here have described a way of looping the seatbelts to make it difficult to open passenger doors. Can't remember the details.
Don't let the worry of it get in the way of your enjoyment. We have parked in towns and cities, beaches, lakes and mountains and we just trust that all will be well and for the rest - well, that is why God invented insurance.

Apparently most break-ins are through cab doors. Very messy using windows especially if you have to make a quick escape. I fitted Heosafe locks to my Ducato doors - easy to fit (no drilling required).
Combine this with a good quality safe secured through cab floor for documents, money etc...
You can never completely stop these scum, but you can make life difficult for them.
And rest easy in the knowledge that your van is at no more risk than it is in UK, which apparently has the highest rate of vehicle crime in Europe.
I have travelled all over Europe over the last 12 years, mostly using camperstops or wild. Never had a problem and only ever heard FIRST HAND of any break-ins a couple of times.

Mounts under the seat and easy to disguise as some sort of electrical device if you wanted to with a high voltage sticker or similar. Big enough to fit laptops, digital cameras and other valuables.
