Hi.

I think your engine will dictate what you need to do whether you are towing or not, just select the best gear for what you are doing, answers on here are probably not very helpful.

2.8 is ample to tow with, I towed with a 2.5 with no problem whatsoever and my car was 1200kg.

My motorhome is capable of doing 90 mph with a big Brian James trailer behind, but is not being used in that manner.
Another driver showed me what it could do on French motorway !

Did not know that a Rapido Randoneur 7090, had the capability to tow a "big Brian James trailer" Surprised

The 2.8 does pull well,, I regularly tow up to 2.8 tons on the back of mine, and the 850, at over 8M long and built on a 5.0 ton Iveco, is no lightweight or race car,, trundles along nicely on the cruise at 55/60 mph

As Ray, says select the correct gear for the given situation

Surprised your 2.8 only trundles at 55/60 mph.

Mine was also good for 70 + mph with same loaded trailer when allowed ! Rolling Eyes

Will do 70mph, if needed, but has to spend most of its time, at the 90 kph speed limit,,

What is the towing weight of a Rapido Randoneur ?? as very few will tow much more that 2 tons !!

Slowing compiling a list, for when the time comes to change the 850
