Ive had the ipad for a few month now. I am well pleased with it. The thought of upgrading to ipad 2 and forking out another arm and a leg to get a camera and very little noticeable extras is for me not on the agenda. To help with that holding back is that as soon as I go ahead then ipad 3 will be out and with rumours of ipad 4. Thats the price of progress.

Wow. So not only do Apple users pay over the odds in the first place for what they are buying, they then have to pay to join user groups to find out how to make what they have bought work. Steve J is undoubtedly a genius! Smile

What are you like. There are Apple groups because Apple users are friendly socialable types who have spare time to get together because they are not spending all their time repairing their computers Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Because also they are mystically drawn to shiny overly expensive toys. Laughing

Most of them never actually use their computers. They walk around with them under their arms making sure that everyone sees that they've got one but they rarely switch them on. Smile A bit like the white earphones that come with ipods (and probably iphones). The quality is apparently awful but people use them by the millions because they are "apple" and because other people can see that they are "apple". Well done again Steve J!

Mmm..... Well I couldn't care less what people think about me owning an iPad or iPhone one iDiddly iSquat and the idea of slipping one under my arm in the hopes it may impress someone is quite comical I must confess. I think it would take a bit more than an Apple product to make people I know be in awe of anyone and nobody I mix with would be so shallow! No - my reason for loving my iPad/iPhone is because they are brilliantly clever devices and their features and capabilities have certainly helped to enhance our freedom both in our personal and our business life and I cannot praise them enough.

Yes, admittedly they are not cheap products but neither is a motorhome and a lot of other things we own and enjoy in life and if we judged everything we owned by it's price tag or by how often the manufacturers brought out a new design or model etc then I guess we'd never buy a lot of the products we own, use, wear and enjoy? However, despite all this, it doesn't stop any of us wanting or enjoying such products and if that's how someone wishes to spend their hard earned dosh then I have no issues with that .... why should I? Smile

So ... are you upgrading, Sue? Wink

You know you want to. But you just need permission to spend the money, so you don't feel guilty. Go on, I hereby give you permission to buy an iPad2 Laughing

Hi Gerald,

Thanks for your permission Smile I am very appreciative of your approval and consent. Very Happy

However, as tempted as I am (and I really am) I'm NOT actually going to upgrade just yet and I'm choosing to hang on to see what develops re the iPad 3! However, as soon as the new iPhone 5 hits the UK market I'm definitely upgrading my iPhone as my contract is due a FREE upgrade and I'm just patiently waiting for the new iPhone 5 launch! Rolling Eyes

Thanks again. Smile

It seems the shoe's on the other foot now, Sue, I think this is where I say that you are a very fortunate lady to be able to afford such luxurys Wink

FWIW in either eventuality I would wait until the 3 comes out at which time you would be able to pick up a 'refurbished' 2 from Apple for £1-150 less should the 3 not be worth the extra premium.

Well not so much fortunate Addie - but I think I get your drift! Wink No - we've had to work very hard in our business and take a lot of scary risks in order to get to the point where we are in a position to afford such luxuries in life and I never take such things for granted ever. We struggled for too many years to ever forget what it's like to have to watch every penny and I remember only too well how difficult those days were. Crying or Very sad

Thanks for your advice - but I had already decided to hang fire until I heard news of what the iPad 3 has to offer and if the improvements are minimal, then I wont be bothering to sell my current iPad in order to use the proceeds from its sale towards an upgrade.

All the best.

Sue
