Can someone who owns one of these explain how the rear brake on the motorcycle is activated, as my understanding of the trailer regulations requires that if the trailer is fitted with brakes, they must work, else they don't comply.
Cheap as Chips. Love the spelling etc on the website.
Wouldn't have thought the brakes have to be activated they aren't on a normal trailer if the weight is right.
With motorbike tyres costing almost as much as this device and lasting about 5K miles I wonder how cost effective it would prove.
We normally do about 4K miles when we go abroad so the bike rear would have about 1K left in it for actual motorcycling so it would be a new rear every trip.
Once the bike is hooked up to the towing device in law it becomes a trailer.
Only trailers over 750kg have to have brakes, but if the trailer has brakes, whtever its weight is, and a scooter or motorbike has to have them by law, then the brakes have to be operable to specified standards.
If the towing device/towing vehicle does not operate the bike/scooter brakes then the rig is illegal.
What about the lights and number boards and reflective triangles as well? The indicators and brake lights also have to work and be operated from the towing vehicle
You can buy the complete kit on the website, including a lighting board that you fit to the back of the bike. So I guess it's only the braking question that is a potential impediment.
I Fail to see how this unit can be suitable for towing a scooter.
Surely the nature of a scooter variable drive system would make it unsuitable to be towed in this way
Hi, I'm interested in this item, can you please tell me how the rear brake on the towed bike is activated?
I understand that if the towed trailer is fitted with brakes, that they must work.
Thanks
He has sent me this reply
hello ,thanks for your question, yes that is correct, but that does not apply if the "towed bike" is being recovered, although this device is a "recovery device" that is how you would get around the question,in all the years we have been trading no one has ever had any problems with this including the highway police thanks ,please visit my vebpage and view my 100"s of feedbacks
