Macs have problems as well, the difference is most users won't shout about them as once they've joined the "I'm better than you" brigade they think being in the elite group makes up for it (bit like Mercedes owners) . Macs suffer from obsolescence just like pc's they just cost far more to upgrade!
The most likely problem sprinta has encountered with IE can be cured by altering some of the settings.
There speaks the voice of an "I know all about Macs even though I've never (and never will) had one....." expert.
Yes, you are correct on one thing though, just changing a few settings will solve problems with IE.
They are......................
1 Replace it with something (anything) else.
2 Even better - Replace the PC and it's MS OS.
I use both (PC & Mac) and know which gives me less problems, I also don't know anybody who has changed back to a PC from a Mac - yet.
I know there must be someone who has.

Well stanner as many of the "trainers" I had to endure in my work life would have told you, "to assume is to make an ass out of you and me".
You know nothing of me or my experiences with computers in general, I have plenty of real knowledge of mac and pc, mainly from my work days but I'm using pc's exclusively nowadays and if sensible and careful pc's are an affordable solution for the masses.
I'll bet you're into conspiracy theories as well (that's me assuming)

No, all I said was you sound just like all the "experts" who've never had a Mac but know all about them.
OK, so you are one who has used Macs as well, how much more time did you have to spend fettling the PCs than the Macs?
I'm currently using 3 different PC laptops (XP Vista and W7) and they are a collective PITA. Setting a new one up (properly) can take a whole day. Every so often you have to go back in and reset various things that have decided they no longer want to do things "your way" any more. Things will suddenly stop working, dictionaries will suddenly decide you want to spell check in French or American, etc. etc. I have never had such spurious changes with a Mac.
You are correct though a "sensibly and carefully looked after" PC can be as good as a Mac - possibly.
But it's the amount of time and hassle involved in being "sensible and careful" that's the problem.

You didn't actually use the word just made a direct assumption about me.

Not that I sounded just like all the "experts" who've never had a Mac but know all about them.
Perhaps not exactly what you say, how you say it.
I stand by my assumption of yourself as a "typical" mac owner.
I will and do admit for graphics work they are unbeatable.

Well that's the Ass and the You accounted for, but not the me.
I'm a very untypical Mac owner (I have 3 actually) but I happen to have the 3 PC laptops mentioned + a Linux netbook as well and I don't currently use the Macs as I just haven't time/can't be a&$ed to get them set up properly as I have too much else on and if I want to do it I want to do it properly

Quite agree
PC's are only really any use for run of the mill stuff (providing you don't try and do it with something called "Office") and apparently for some really useful work called "gaming" (whatever that is).
But given all that, the only true purpose of PC/MS based computers is to keep IT "support" sections in work - why on earth would they want to specify Macs? - they wouldn't be able to answer calls with "have you tried turning it off and on again" then would they?
