Very neat job Dave,

Do you use your TV on 12 volts permanently or is there enough room to swing the tele down into position with the mains plug in the socket.

I have the Alden 16'' TV which consumes remarkably little current at 12 volts so even on the rare occasions we have a hook up I never use it on 240 volts.

We have the same TV as you Steve, and use it in exactly the same way as you do.

I can see no point in using the transformer when on hook-up.

A significant part of the reason I did the job is that I like the ultimate in ease and simplicity when on holiday (Or in other words - I'm bone idle! Laughing ) I flick three switches, wait less than one minute as a rule, and the TV comes on.

Taking off its natty, upholstery-matching cover and swinging it down is the most time consuming part of the operation. Wink Rolling Eyes

Dave Very Happy

I simply went to Maplin and bought a circular toggle switch. The hole can then be drilled with a wood bit. Assuming you have got somewhere suitable. I dont like leaving items on standby all the time. Incidentally, I find the PACE Skybox draws the same current on standby as running.

Thanks for your suggestions, and for the photos, Dave. Very clever and very neat.

Yes, I think it could work, with the option of a right-angled plug and a remote switch.

However ... Wink

Your photos have given me another idea - of possibly having a similar mini socket, right angled, mounted at the open end of the cupboard.

Or ...

Maybe using just the illuminated switch (or something similar), and wiring it in permanently behind the side panel could work.

Gerald
