The only drawback I can see is the extra confusion for newcomers (and some established members Rolling Eyes ) of an additional 25 or so forums . . . when we receive frequent complaints that MHF is already very complicated and difficult to navigate. Shocked

Belgian, Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, French, German, Greek, Dutch, Hungarian, Italian, Moroccan, Polish, Spanish, Portuguese, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish, Turkish, Russian, Syrian, Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Slovakian . . . . and Welsh!! Shocked Laughing

OK - tongue in cheek to some extent, but from past experience I guarantee that once begun, somebody would be sure to want a language forum for every "travel" forum already in existence. Shocked (The latter exist only as a result of previous requests for their inclusion!)

It sounds like a good idea in principle, but I think the only practical solution would be a single forum entitled "Translation Please" - or something similar. (Not sure about that either - please read on. Wink )

Alternatively, why not post a "Translation Please" request in the appropriate existing sub-forum for that country? Then the readers would know at once if they had a knowledge of that language - without having to open the post to find out.

There's no way MHF can become a language learning forum, but I do agree that requests for accurate translations can be very useful indeed! Very Happy

Dave Very Happy

Hi Dave

I didn't think that there would 25 new forums for foreign languages. I would have thought one would be enough and let the languages and questions go into seperate topics within it.

Personally I don't find MHF difficult to navigate but the times I have tried to use the search facility it didn't work.

Cheers,

Keith

Interesting idea.

It's up to Nuke, but my thoughts on it would be one separate forum in the "Motorhome travel & touring" block, possible title "Language & translation queries". It could cover all queries on such as what does such & such in Spanish mean, or how do I ask about my blown engine in French?

How does that sound? and any other ideas?

Sounds good to me.

Yep. I have to agree 'cos it's what I suggested but with a better title. Wink Laughing Laughing

No new ones Mike. I'm still inclined to think it would be better to use the existing sub-forums and entitle a language query post with a suitable title like, "Translation Query Please".

Reason being (as I may not have explained clearly enough before) a single new forum will have queries about a number of different languages.

I think there would be a faster response if the query was placed in an exisiting forum, where those with a special interest may well be "Watching" the forum already.

At least the reader would see at once in which language help was required, without having to open every post to find out. I think it less likely that people would bother to look, just on the off-chance that a query was about the language(s) in which they could offer help.

Just me own opinion. Rolling Eyes

Hi

The idea was to get reviews and recommendations of language courses so as the 'the old dog new tricks' mob (me) can chose ones to suit them and maybe get a bit help if needed from other members.

The translation thing is a good idea too but I wouldn't like it to become the main focus of the forum request. As someone else said MHF cannot become a translation service. Sorry if that sounds blunt.

Maybe an update on the proposed title could be ' Language Courses and Translation queries' making the focus about self learning.

Cheers

Keith

Hi all,

Just to let you know.............

Florence is French by birth and upbringing, and is a French Tutor by profession.

If anyone requires any translation, either from French to English or visa versa, please either PM me or, if you feel that the info would be of benefit to other forum members, drop the request on here (but still PM me that it is here so that Flo can pop in to translate)

Hope this will help a few?

Carl (& Flo of course!!!)

Carl & Flo

Thanks to both of you for that very kind offer. I'm sure your inbox will be full very soon. Laughing

Cheers
