Thank you both!
I contacted Towsure this very morning (something about great minds etc) who quoted £499 for any towbar but they now coat them with plastic.
I may well be wrong about this but was told when we bought the van that the Palermo rear end had a larger overhang, manufactured by Autosleeper and not an Alko chassis. I have not checked this out so will await Towsure phoning me back on this point.

I'm not done with you yet, young man!!
The chassis extenders on Our Polly were OEM, made to fit on to the fixing points on the original Peugeot chassis. The extenders were not Alko but made of steel. Very sturdy stuff.
As Dave reminds us, the T-bar arrangement makes for a very good reversing aid and a distinct deterrent to any closely following motorist!!
Just a point of clarification, if I may, when you mention Towsure (£499) is that who you mean. You're not confusing TowTAL with TowSURE, are you?

Whoops!
For Towsure read Towtal.
I was aware of the advantages of the metal bar, for our parking space is very limited and on one occasion my Kia got a bit too friendly with the 'van (=£250).
The reversing sensors fitted anywhere other than through the plastic body, also hold some bonus points for me.
