Lars, I haven't the faintest idea what you are talking about
All I want is to be able to buy a TV which is suitable for road use, will run of a low voltage supply (12v), will work off a UHF aerial and decode both MPEG2 and MPEG4 television broadcasts. Simples

My point is that I can't find any TV's purpose built to the standards of use/abuse relevant in the leisure/trucking market (like the products from RoadPro for example) on sale which include decoding capability for both formats. Which surprises me as that market caters for international use with exposure to both formats.
Maybe the "marketing people" have concluded that demand for such TV's will be extremely limited and so it is not worth the expense to develop such models. Given the language differences across most of Europe, it is probably a fair presumption that most "travelling" viewers will choose a satellite based system broadcasting in their home language rather than a terrestrial digital system that is transmitting programs in a foreign language.

Not surprised that Cubik are not aware, nor were Cello. All of the Cello products are using the MStar 300 series chips in chassis made bye either THTF or MTC in Shenzen Province in China. The 2010 models used the MStar 306 and the 2011/2012 models are using the MStar 308 in 2D models and MStar 309 in 3D models.
All of these chips are MPEG4 ready and enabled.
Your TV is fully compatible with the Norwegian standard and this requires MPEG4.

Lars,
This is totally off topic and very incorrect. I am quite happy to take this off forum if you want to PM, certainly there is no nneed for this posting in this thread.

I take you point about languages, but quite a few of us I am sure can understand at least one language other than English.
It is also worth noting that in the British Isles English is the predominant language outside of Gaelic speaking areas.
Regarding DVB-T, there are two English speaking services in the British Isles Freeview (MPEG2) for the UK territory and SAORVIEW (MPEG4) for the Irish territory. The content of Freeview is readily available in Ireland via cable and DVB-S and also in Northern Ireland via DVB-T, The content of Saorview which includes TV3, a channel with significant ITV content, is also available in Northern Ireland.
Broadly speaking ITV content is likely to be found on TV3 and BBC content on RTE1 or 2.
There used to be difficulties for UK tourist receiving Irish tv in the past due to our main transmitter network being primarily VHF band III which was not receivable by the UHF aerials fitted to UK manufactured caravans and MH's and also as TV's for the UK market were not fitted with VHF tuners, except curiously those for the leisure market like Avtex products for example.
However, Saorview, the DVB-T system is being carried exclusively on the UHF band so will be receivable by tourists from the UK, if their tv's are MPEG4 enabled which they are reported not to be and seems to be a step backwards..
It is the sector of the UK market which includes caravan and MH tourists who do not have an interest in a satellite system and who tour Southern Ireland and vice verse which currently 'appears' not to be catered for, along with the local market here.
I hear what GerryD says on the subject and expect he is correct so perhaps it's for the retailers on this sector of the market to acquaint themselves with the specifications of the products they are selling and give fuller account of them in their advertising.

Jean-Luc,
The identical TV is curreently sold in Eire (under another name) as Soarview compatible and licensed.
The Cello is not an exclusive product, the chassis is used in 40% of all own brand TVs in Europe.

Thanks Jerry, have you any idea who might be stockists or distributors here as 12volt stuff is difficult to find in screen sizes over 15" here.
