A garage, accessable from the hab area would be a bonus for you. The sun does not shine every day and 2 wet and bedraggled Beardies will take a bit of drying out (not so bad if you are on hookup and can use a hair dryer).

That would mean forgetting about a rear lounge layout though.

Never thought about the spares thing thanks for that.

My friend said I should really look into the fibreglass aspect because if you have an accident she said it can be expensive to repair because it crushes easily. I think thats why they went for a PVC. Is it really that bad?

Garage sounds like a fantastic idea but I am guessing they are on newer therefore more expensive models. We are hoping not to spend more than 20k?

Welcome to MHF, as you see there are many really helpful people on here who will give you the best advice that you will ever encounter.

BUT

as has been said, in the end you have to make the decision based on what you want and what you can find out, the perfect combination does not exist but with care, you can get close to what you really want.

It does take time though - so visit as many dealers as you can and see what is on offer, there are so many differences that it is not possible to decide without seeing.

We took several months to make our decision and have not regretted it at all since then, our only regret was using the dealer we did who, although they had the right vehicle, did not have the best after-sales service...........

The best money we spent was to subscribe here, it saved us the cost within days (we had a problem which was identified correctly on here within minutes and advice about correcting it given freely within 30 minutes - that saved us a 100 mile+ drive to return to the dealer for them to identify and change a blown fuse!).

So see as many MH as you can and talk to as many people as you can so that you can work out what things you REALLY want in the MH. Remember the cost of repairs in the event of damage would probably be covered by comprehensive insurance rather than your wallet....... (unless you know something I don't!). Think how frequently you have crunched other vehicles - that may give you a guide as to whether fibre glass or PVC would be best for you.

Hope to see hear much more from you on here, if you ask a question on here someone will know the answer!

Dave

Hi Dave, of course the insurance would pay, duh!, and without tempting fate we dont normally have any accidents.

Subscribing, how would I go about it, what do I get that I havent got now and how long does it last?

Thanks Chris

Glad to hear that your driving record is sound! Laughing

Click on the "Subscriptions" tab at the top of the page, that opens up several options with this as the "Advantages" page;

http://www.motorhomefacts.com/advantages.html

subscribing is easy - follow the advice given on the page shown at the top, it costs £12.50 p.a. and we have found it very useful and very helpful.

By subscribing you have access to some sections which non-subscribers cannot access, including company reports etc. (although many people choose NOT to visit the jokes section or the Subscribers Bar.... Laughing , hope you find it easy, if not there are options to do it by telephone or by e-mail, but I managed it first time so it must be easy!

One subscription allows you and your partner to have access and separate user names (my wife is on here often too!),

hope that helps,

Dave

when we chose our van we went to the show at the NEC.
looked at, sat in, and tried loads of vans,
we were then able to decide what we wanted/liked.

we have a garage for our three dogs,
word of advise,
its lovely in the summer sitting outside,
but if the weather is dodgy, you may find it a bit cramped sitting at the table for long periods ( i lay on the overcab bed to watch tele).
if you want a lounge area and a garage, you may need a fairly thick wallet.
