Well its soon going to be that time to bring mhs out of storage, clean them down etc and prepare them for seasons use.
I thought we should create a guide / process for this on MHF, so i am asking for some tips about what you do to prepare your van for the spring / summer etc ?
We tend to use the van all year round so there is not a specific date when we change to "summer mode". Around April / May we do an audit of what is in there and remove winter camping specific stuff ( thick duvets, additional heaters etc) and replace with thinner bedclothes, fans, BBQs and so on.
One thing we always do on one set date each year ( 1st May /May Day / m'aider - get it ?) is replace all the smoke alarm batteries at home and in the van.

Yes - we use our van all year round. I do like to give it a service after the main holiday - other than that I do like to ensure its clean and usable on a weekly basis.

Just spent a wet hour or two washing all the mud and green stuff off Bessie and am getting itchy toes. She goes to Morans in a couple of weeks time for service inside and out and her first MOT , seems like yesterday she was brand new, where does the time go to ?
Main holiday in June booked, researched and sites chosen, ordance survey maps ordered and poured over so all systems go.
I too use her as much as I can all year round, but like to spend a day in the spring giving her a really good clean inside, carpets shampoo'd, all cupboards mucked out and sorted, amazing how much rubbish you accumulate without realising.

Georgie hasn't been out since the Midlands rally in November.
I went up today to replace the leisure and engine batteries, give him a good wash and check all systems were working prior to our 'get together' at P'borough next weekend.
Guess what ! The fridge refused to light on gas and the hot water boiler lit but refused to stay lit..
Winter gremlins I think.. Eventually got the boiler alight and the fridge to ignite but not stay alight.. ohh well, always tomorrow ..
PS .. Georgie started first touch of the key..

Storage??? Winter???
My process is kept as simple as possible.
Load clean clothes, washing kit, toothbrush etc. Make sure we have coffee, tea, food and milk, wine etc.
Shut the door, start the motor, select drive, release the brakes and HIT THE GAS.......
