Yep another one for the Ayes, Use it all the time except in exceptional circumstances, Like extremely good shower blocks in Uk when on site, Use ours all the time when abroad.

Ooops almost forgot to ask, What's Soap, No seriously we use the shower gel that hangs on rail.

In 28 years, 12 RVs and one Euro Shed, I have never used a public loo or shower while touring.

Why have them in the van and not use them?

Ray.

Yes we use our shower and there is enough room to bend to retrieve any item from the floor. Very Happy
Our Tramp has a fixed folding door between the toilet area and the shower room.
As wilders, we have not used a campsite for nearly two years and a decent shower room is a serious must have in any van that we have had, do have, and will have. Very Happy
15 weeks away this year and the shower was used every day.
But, if a person uses campsites all of the time, I can understand it is not a necessity.
We also much prefer to use our own toilet in comfort Smile Smile

Another "yes" vote from me.

If we are on a site with good facilities, I may use their showers and toilets when the weather is ok - but if the site facilities are less than A1, or it is cold, or wet, or dark, or any other half decent excuse - then I'll use the facilities on board.

This post has made me think again about the first caravan we had - complete with a very clingy shower curtain - but we still managed to "shower" two adults and three babies (all under 18 months old). Very few campsites that we found had facilities where we could safely get everyone bathed in a production line as we could in the van. Happy days Very Happy

Regards,
John

As we nearly always wild-camp a good shower is a must. Without it one's ability to wild-camp would be severely restricted.

In 2 years, even when occasionally on-site I have never used the site shower.

As for curtains v. doors, our Arto has quite a large toilet/shower and I find the circular draw-round curtain which isolates the shower from the rest, including keeping the loo-paper dry, quite acceptable.

When we were in France in the summer and it was so warm we tended to use the sites facilities but in this country we use our own. Our shower is very good, we had to replace the pump in the summer and got a more powerful one which is excellent. I can't ever see me strolling across a british campsite early morning in the cold, dew on the grass, coat on, possibly holding a brolly, clutching my toiletries bag, oh no, no no. I like to get out of bed and straight into the shower. Each to their own!

Like most people, we use shower Gel, squirted from a push button Fiamma unit on the shower wall; although at one time most vans had these dispensers fitted, they are no longer made.
Although my shower will go through the window, to date we have not tried showering outside in order not to offend people in the street. Laughing
Thanks for all the replies.
Alan

Mrs D uses our shower a lot as let's face it showers are for girls really who like to keep clean.

I've just taken to jumping in lakes and rivers wherever I am on this trip for the odd clean.

Come on, your supposed to be adventure seekers pioneering across uncharted wilderness not queing up in your dressing gowns on a cc site!

lol isnt that the idea? Or was that a joke I didn't quite get?

Personally use the campsite facilities - as others have said why use the water/pay for the heating (water heated by gas only) when you are paying for the facilities.

As I have said before in our MH there is a rule - no shoes no poos.

Highlight of my touring day- the morning hot shower in our van. When SWMBO decides to wash her hair I set the Truma 60C control ON in addition to the 240v heating - gets the water extra hot

As another MH'er wrote "Whay have a shower in your van and not use it " ??
