We did exactly as wworby is doing last year, no regrets at all. Far easier than dragging a caravan around, easier to park along the way between sites hence you can do your sightseeing as you travel.

I was worried about parking but there is usually somewhere to slot in, I've found some surprisingly good free kerb side spots right by the sea for instance. Car parks there's often the chance to overhang a verge to fit in a space - just remember the end of a row is safer as it stops people parking too close for you to get a door open
